Satirical commentary of I Love Lucy every Friday! Here are this week’s WTFacts.
This Week’s Episode:
“The Kleptomaniac”
Original Air Date:
April 14, 1952
This Week’s WTFacts:
The psychiatrist (if you can call him that, let’s be real), is played by Joseph Kearns, who later went on to play the beloved Mr. Wilson in Dennis the Menace — a part he was still playing when he died in 1962. Before acting, he was a pipe organist. There was a time when “pipe organist” was a paying career. Think about that, then get back to your spreadsheet.
- The $200 Ricky finds in Lucy’s purse is worth $1800 today.
- Lucy was never a criminal, but she was almost accused of being a communist. These first seasons happened during the Red Scare, and Lucy had signed up as a Socialist years before to appease her grandfather. She was investigated in 1953. Thank goodness we’re reasonable now and don’t assume everyone’s a
terroristspy.
