Satirical commentary of I Love Lucy every Friday! Here’s the info to watch ahead, plus all the WTFacts for this week.
This week’s episode:
“Men Are Messy”
Original Air Date:
December 3, 1951
This Week’s WTFacts:
- LOOK Magazine is real, and the cover shown in this episode is real as well. In a win for normal looking women everywhere, they put Lucy’s swamp-woman photo over the actual cover photo: the 3 Universal starlets of 1951.
- They guy who plays Kenny, Ricky’s press agent, was actually named Kenny. He was married to Lucille Ball’s cousin Cleo and was Desilu Productions’ PR representative. I’ve been saying it for years: the best way to get into show business is to marry a famous person’s cousin.
- It makes sense Lucy would model a magazine cover – she’d been modeling for years at that point. But it was always clear she was comedy-bound. In NYC, one designer said of/to her, “This girl’s fulla hell. You got flair, you got personality, a beautiful body you got. So why so aggravating? You make my ulcer ache. You’re fired.”
See you Friday!
